The Italian born, Bresca, 1954, architect and draftsman Lorenzo Mattotti founded the Gruppo Valvoline in Bologna in 19883. At the time, Mattotti was already a prizeman of several international distinctions in the field of commodity-graphics and book-design. His illustrations for the fashion magazine Vanity in 1986 and 1989 also raised a few eyebrows. In recent years, Lorenzo Mattotti has above all appeared as a striking creator of internal children's publications. In Germany, Lorenzo Mattotti has been made known to a larger public through his contributions to the Süddeutsche Zeitung (South German Newspaper). In 1992 and 1993 respectively, he was awarded the "Max und Moritz" prize at the International Comic Salon in Hamburg as well as gaining distinctions in Erlangen. At the moment, Lorenzo Mattotti lives and works alternately in Paris and Bologna.
