Photo Print: Smoke bath in the hut by Piet Flour
The himba women never bath with water. Every morning for 2 hours they "smoke" themselves with smouldering herbs and leaves, preparing the infusion on a little wooden pedestal, that she has lit with a coal from their ever burning fires. This is done inside their huts where the wind cannot blow the smoke and perfume away. The huts are made of branches and mud. To get this light I asked my wife to hold the curtain closing the hut in the right way to deflect and diffuse the outdoor light towards the woman.
